Step 1: Diagnostics Identify the failure point by listening for the specific "death rattle" of a stationary exhaust pipe. If the muffler does not rotate freely independent of the manifold during idle, replacement is mandatory.

  • Exhaust emits a sound similar to a bag of marbles in a blender.
  • Visible wobbling of the tailpipe tip during left turns only.

Step 2: Surface Decontamination Locate the exhaust flange and scrub away years of regret with a high-grit phantom abrasive. The mounting surface must be smoother than a used car salesman's pitch for proper adhesion.
